The Communicators(For Members Only)Knowledge Alliance Communicators Institute Captain's Blog 2010: To Boldly Go Where We Never Would Have Gone Before Date, Location and Lodging:This year, we will meet at the offices of WestEd in San Francisco, beginning at Noon on 5/12 and concluding at Noon on 5/13, just prior to the start of the Education Writers Association National Seminar. We encourage you to attend the EWA seminar; please follow the above link for info on the EWA event, including the seminar hotel, which we recommend for your lodging needs. Agenda:The planning committee is putting the finishing touches on what we think will be a stimulating agenda. Joining us will be Tracy Dell'Angela, the new Outreach & Communications Staff Director at the Institute of Education Sciences. We are also hopeful of enlisting the participation of a Bay area education reporter to discuss the changing media landscape with us and how to anticipate the next platform that could shape the communications arena. Finally, we will continue the popular "Sizzle/Fizzle" and "Nuggets/Noodles" sessions of previous years (see below). Note that the registration fee is $210, and will cover lunch and dinner on May 12, breakfast on May 13, meeting room expenses and speaker costs. Participate in one of the “Sizzle or Fizzle” and/or “Nuggets and Noodles” sessions:We ask that you sign up to present briefly (3-5 minutes) during one of the “Sizzle or Fizzle” and/or “Nuggets and Noodles” sessions. During these sessions, you will be able to share ideas that worked or didn’t work on communications topics in your respective organizations (Sizzle/Fizzle) and untried great ideas and/or articles (Nuggets/Noodles).
